Tears For Fears gained a strong feed into the public consciousness with a grand album, Songs From The Big Chair. Released in 1985, the album generated a strong collection of singles that include “Mother’s Talk”, “Everybody Wants To Rule The World”, “Shout”, and “Head Over Heels”. There would be no stopping the band after this release. But before this album, there was The Hurting. Released in 1983, it showed the promise of the new band.
On May 12, Universal will release a Half-Speed Mastered Edition of The Hurting, as well as an exclusive Blu-ray Audio edition that will only be sold via the SuperDeluxeEdition information and sales site. The new editions are produced in celebration of the album’s 40th Anniversary. What’s better is that world-renowned mix artist, Steven Wilson, has created the new Dolby Atmos 5.1 mix, and the DTS HD Master Audio.
The BD-Audio disc will include the original Stereo master, and an instrumental mix in Stereo in 96Khz/24-bit. Added to the set will be two previously unreleased early versions of “Mad World”, and “Watch Me Bleed”. Both tracks were found on the masters and were likely to not have been mixed before this.
