One of the fun elements of the New Wave era of the ’80s was its ability to explore vast territories of musical influences, merging them into a well-accepted music for the period. One of those bands were the short-lived Haircut 100. Their career delivered two albums but only one was successful. Released in 1982, their debut was Pelican West, which did knockout business in the UK earning the band a million in sales. The rest of the world was a tougher nut to crack but it certainly enjoyed their jazz/rhythm/rock blends with the hit, “Love Plus One”. In the UK, that album pushed out seven singles with four of them TOP10 hits.
On February 24 of 2023, a 4CD Box celebrating the album’s 40th Anniversary will be released via Demon Music Group. The set will feature the original album remastered, and over 3 more CDs with collected extended and 12″ cuts, B-sides, unfinished tracks, and a live set from a 1982 Hammersmith Odeon gig in London. A 44-page booklet is packed in with essay, photos, notes, memorabilia, and much more to adore the album with.
