Cowboy Junkies have given us memorable albums since 1986. With a strong blend of Country and Folk, they have delivered eighteen albums, their last being Ghosts (2020). One of their strong suits was the covers they created. The cover of “Sweet Jane” (Velvet Underground) gave the song a mystical and airy quality.
On March 25 via Latent Recordings, Cowboy Junkies will release a covers set called Songs Of The Recollection. The nine-track album will feature recreated songs like “Five Years” (David Bowie), “I’ve Made Up My Mind To Give Myself To You” (Bob Dylan), “Ooh Las Vegas” (Gram Parsons), “Don’t Let It Bring You Down” (Neil Young), all performed in the classic Cowboy Junkies style. Four of the included songs have been previously released.
Songs Of The Recollection will be issued on CD, DD, and vinyl LP (The LP, while promised, has no release date other than “near end of April”).
