This is great and welcomed news: a new compilation of rare/unreleased recordings from North Carolina/New York’s original purveyors of brilliant, shimmering early ’80’s pop, The dB’s, is due for public consumption in mid-October on the newly-launched Propeller Sound Recordings imprint. This 23-track package will be available as a 2-LP set, a CD and in bundles.

Some of these songs you may know – in either their “officially” released capacity or through the 1993 CD compilation, Ride The Wild Tom Tom – this is not a replacement for the aforementioned, but more of a supplemental enhancer. The beauty of this is that you get to hear the band at their dynamic best, in a live setting, on some of the tracks. If you’re not familiar with the majestic dB’s canon, this is a perfect primer. And if you’re like me, you simply have to have everything they do/release.
