The Doobie Brothers have entertained the world with much loved music since the early ’70s. And while their first album is pretty much unheralded (and it shouldn’t be), it was their second set that put them on the charts with “Listen To The Music”, “Rockin’ Down The Highway”, and “Jesus Is Just Alright”. Toulouse Street went platinum and the rest of the band’s output has fared well since.
On October 1, The Doobie Brothers (with remaining founders Patrick Simmons, and Tom Johnston, along with longtime bandmember, John McFee) will release their 15th studio album – Liberté. Their last album, Southbound, released back in 2014 makes it seven years since we’ve had new music from the band. Liberté will heal that gap with 12 new songs. Four of those songs are in current release as a self-titled 4-track EP. Liberté will be issued on CD and DD, with a possible LP in the future.
You can hear the first single, “Don’t Ya Mess With Me” below. You can find the 4-track EP via streaming services or as a download.
