With Anniversaries coming up for all of John Lennon‘s post-Beatles albums, it’s nice to see such detail being applied to the remixed collection, Gimme Some Truth. It was beautifully packaged and wonderfully detailed. Now as the anniversary date for John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band has barely passed, we get news of a lavish and well-collected new box that will celebrate the album.
On April 16, Apple Records will reissue John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band as a 6CD/2BD set. This box will feature the original album in a newly remixed form, and will add to it with outtakes, demos, and much more. The Blu-ray discs will provide all the things found on the CDs as hi-resolution (192kHz/24-bit) Stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound remixes. The BDs will include all tracks in Dolby Atmos. A “War Is Over!” poster and two postcards are included. To further the brilliance, a 132-page hardbound book with photos and writings is packed in.
John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band will not only be reissued in the Deluxe 6CD/2BD box, but also in 2CD [original album remixed and Outtakes], CD [original album remixed], DD, and 2LP Half-Speed LP packages. The Ultimate mix of “Mother” can be heard below.
Let’s hope for Anniversary treatments like this one for the remaining classic Lennon albums with 50th anniversaries coming up.
