With the success of the massive In Search of Hades: The Virgin Recordings 1973-1979 16CD box for Tangerine Dream, which was released early in 2019, Universal/Virgin has officially thought “why not again?” In Search of Hades featured the band’s first 7 albums for Virgin Records, all newly remastered with a keepsake box and an indispensable book.
On October 30, a 10CD box will be released that concentrates on the remaining Virgin years from 1980-1983. The set will be titled Pilots of Purple Twilight: The Virgin Recordings 1980-1983. It will feature brand new 2020 remasters of Tangram (1980), Exit (1981), White Eagle (1982), and Hyperborea (1983) along with movie soundtracks of Thief (1981), the previously unreleased The Soldier (1982), and The Keep (1983). Logos Live (1982) is included.
In addition, Pilots of Purple Twilight will include unreleased music spread out over 4CDs. On them will be the full November 6, 1982 Dominion Theatre show in London. The soundtracks will offer bonus music with Thief adding the promo only track of “Dr. Destructo”, and White Eagle will expand by six bonus tracks. Hyperborea will expand with five bonus tracks that were redirected to Risky Business, which includes “Love On A Real Train”. A hardback book of photos, essays, and other goodies will be a highlight.
There will be 1CD versions of Tangram, Thief, Exit, White Eagle, Hyperborea, and Logos Live, all with 2020 remasters and bonus tracks, if applicable.
