When is Neil Diamond more than enough? To be honest, I have my ups and downs with Neil Diamond’s vast, vast catalog. From the ’60s and through most of the ’70s, ND could do little wrong for me. And while I absolutely get his directed path of the ’80s, it wasn’t my style. Nevertheless, his audience is far more vast than my own particular tastes. So there…for me. Which brings us to the complete Neil Diamond fan, the one that gets it all!
On November 30, Capitol Records (the current label of ALL things ND) will release a large career-spanning 6CD box collection filled with 115 songs by the singer/songwriter, including a small handful of fifteen previously unreleased outtakes and demos. (Why we haven’t seen lavish individual album sets with such things is beyond me. I’m game for quite a few Deluxe Editions of some of those classics including Moods, and Serenade!)
The box is being called 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition. It will feature not only the classic hits and deep cuts of Neil Diamond’s long career, but will also place the 6CDs into a hardbound book loaded with writings on the albums, credits, photos, and a ton of other things. The book might just be the star of the package with the music a bonus.
Neil Diamond 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition will be released on CD, DD (standard), and an HD DD form at 96kHz/24-bit. I think I’m in for this one.
