In what is a departure of Rolling Stones delivery, we have an interesting compilation arising from the Rolling Stones camp that is not Rolling Stones music. Rather, it is a curated appreciation of the music that gave birth the bands like The Rolling Stones. It is a collection of classic blues tracks from highly respected bluesmen like Muddy Waters, Slim Harpo, Howlin’ Wolf, Jimmy Reed, Robert Johnson, Buddy Guy, B.B, King, and a wealth of other important Blues artists.
On November 9, BMG UK will release a multi-purpose. multi-format set to provide access to forty-two immeasurably essential Blues tunes from the artists that created, sang, and/or best expressed the music. What’s better is that 10% of the sales from these sets will be donated to the established non-profit organization of Willie Dixon’s Blues Heaven Foundation (read about it here), an organization designed to promote the Blues genre as well as current and ongoing preservation of the historic Chess Records building.
The 2CD set is being called Confessin’ The Blues. It arises out of a profound admiration for the Blues by the members of the Rolling Stones band. The selection of the forty-two tracks was curated by the members of the band, and the cover art is from an original painting by Ron Wood for the release.
Confessin’ The Blues will be released on 2CD in a soft-cover digipak, two 2LP vinyl volumes (purchased separately), and a historically replicated 10″ 5LP Box that mimic the original style of 10″ 78RPM blues recordings on vinyl. Each set will provide a detailed booklet with an original essay and collection of photographs. Additionally, a set of art card prints will be included.
