The legendary 4AD label has released some of Rock’s best loved independent bands, bands like Dead Can Dance, Pixies, Cocteau Twins, Red House Painters, Pale Saints, Clan of Xymox, Bauhaus, and a wealth of other shoegaze bands. While many of those bands have ceased heir recording and touring, the label is still active in searching out endearing bands to keep things fresh. Current bands on 4AD include The National, Deerhunter, The Lemon Twigs, Daughter, and Gang Gang Dance.
It’s been seven years since we’ve last heard from Gang Gang Dance. Their last album, Eye Contact, was released back in 2011. The band is an interesting mix of jazz-influenced electronic ambient music, coupled with the hallmark of 4AD’s shoegaze preference. With five albums in release (Eye Contact is the band’s ONLY 4AD LP issue), the band has provided more than enough back catalog to discover.
On June 22, 4AD will release the next Gang Gang Dance album, Kazuashita. The new album will offer ten new songs with the hypnotic vocal style of Lizzi Bougatsos merged with the current music style of Brian DeGraw, and Josh Diamond.
Kazuashita is planned for CD, DD, and vinyl LP.
