In July, we got brand new reissues of the first three Emerson, Lake & Palmer original titles that included their eponymous debut, Tarkus, and Pictures At An Exhibition. To add to that, the acquiring label, BMG, will release a 3CD career-spanning collection of ELP music called The Anthology on August 12.
On September 30, BMG will reissue the next three classic ELP titles that include Trilogy, Brain Salad Surgery, and the 1974 live set, Welcome Back My Friends…! All titles are newly remastered. Bonus content accompanies the studio efforts.
Trilogy, released in 1972, will be issued in 2CD, and 140g-weight vinyl LP editions. The 2CD set will be newly remastered for the original album, with the second CD containing the 2011 Jakszyk remix of the album, an alternate version of “From The Beginning”, and a live performance track of “Hoedown”.
Brain Salad Surgery (1973), is scheduled for a 2CD set, as well as a 140g vinyl edition. This album will be newly remastered, and provide a second CD with thirteen bonus tracks that include b-sides (“When The Apple Blossoms Bloom In The Windmills Of Your Mind/I’ll Be Your Valentine”, “Brain Salad Surgery”), first mixes (“Jerusalem”, “Still…You Turn Me On”), alternate versions (“Karn Evil 9”, all four), an instrumental playback of “Brain Salad Surgery”, a different version of “Karn Evil 9, Third Impression” including an original backing track of the same, and a replay of an NME flexidisc of excerpts from the ELP album.
Welcome Back My Friends To The Show That Never Ends, Ladies and Gentlemen, Emerson, Lake & Palmer will be reissued featuring new remastering. It will be reissued on 2CD, and 140g-weight 2LP vinyl sets.
All remastering are 24-bit quality. The vinyl LPs have been cut from 24-bit HD remasters.
These titles have been revisited quite a bit recently but I’m always one to hear better clarity and perfection from music that I love and that is still important to me.
