XTC SkylarkingAs many of you know, Steven Wilson has been doing ‘knock ’em dead’ remix work on albums that he loves. Those, over time, have included Jethro Tull, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Yes, Tears For Fears, Simple Minds, Gentle Giant, King Crimson, Opeth, and XTC. To date, Steven Wilson has remixed Drums & Wires, Nonsuch, and Oranges and Lemons for XTC. One of the hopeful remixes that seemed to be impossible due to the inability to locate master tapes. That album was Skylarking. However, the master tapes were discovered (according to an A Partridge tweet). And so, work goes on.

According to the Steven Wilson Remixes Facebook account, it appears that Skylarking, with a Stereo and 5.1 Surround set of remixes, will soon be announced and made available. There is no date. The post simply stated “Myself and Andy Partridge yesterday, having just listened back to the completed 5.1 surround sound remix of what for many is XTC’s masterpiece Skylarking. Coming soon folks!” and followed up with “PS – There were 19 songs on the Skylarking multitracks, 18 finished and one incomplete – all of them are going on the reissue (3 mixed for the first time).”

I’m posting this for the patient and hopeful fans of Skylarking. It’s coming!

I’ll post updates as more information becomes available.

(Note: It would appear that we’ll also soon get Beat, and Three Of A Perfect Pair, both classic Adrian Belew-era King Crimson titles).
