Steven Wilson is one sought after revitalization expert of beloved classic albums. He’s kept quite busy in this regard. It’s his long awaited remix of Octopus, the 1972 classic by Gentle Giant that joins two other recently announced classics, Fragile by Yes, and Oranges And Lemons by XTC. Fragile and Octopus will both be released on October 30, while the XTC title is expected on October 16.
Scheduled for the October 30 release date by Alucard Records, and distributed via Universal Music, Octopus, with its new Steven Wilson remix should be welcomed news. The set will be released as a CD/BD package with the CD containing the original album, and the Blu-ray (BD) containing high resolution Stereo remixes (96kHz/24-bit), and 5.1 Surround DTS Master Audio playback.
In addition, there will be a bonus 15-minute live excerpts from Octopus from a 1976 show. The BD disc will also include instrumental versions of the songs, all in various formats.
The set will feature new sketches by Roger Dean, who produced the beautiful UK cover for the album when it originally released. The original US art will also be included in this desirable set.
