Guitar master, Joe Satriani has announced the upcoming release of his newest album for July. The new album is his 15th solo album, and had been recorded during the last few months of 2014. The album is being called Shockwave Supernova. Currently, there are fifteen complete songs expected for the album.
The surprising thing (to me) is that Satriani has not achieved fame as a member of a super group. Sure, he’s played with Mick Jagger, and enjoyed a short stint with Deep Purple (way too late), but a guitarist of this stature would have been well known as a member of a band (or at least a guitarist with a solid band behind him a la Ted Nugent, Santana, etc.) had he latched onto a band in the ’70s.
Pondering aside, Shockwave Supernova is planned for July 24. It is to be released on CD, DD, and 120g 2LP vinyl. Satriani will tour the album in early 2016.
Wasn’t Satriani in a band a while ago called ChickenFoot? Couldn’t that be considered a super group?
Well, Joe Satriani is a member of Chickenfoot. With fellow musicians Sammy Hagar (Montrose, Van Halen), Michael Anthony (Van Halen) and Chad Smith (RHCP) I think we have a little super group here.
Cheers,
Gido
I completely understand what you’re saying. However, I’m talking like back in the ’70s when a member came up big because of the band he was in. I don’t know. But I give you no argument.
