In order to keep Adam Jahnke happy, it is important that I let you know that four Nick Cave classic albums are currently being slated for reissue. Now, before you get too excited, it is equally important to know that Nick Cave’s catalog had been remastered and expanded back in 2009. Yes, in the digital world with rapidly improving methods of remastering and audio clean-up and enhancements, a new remaster can be welcome. However, most new remasters, coming from the Big Three label conglomerates, are usually accompanied with fresh extra content. As many fans know (Adam, correct me if I’m wrong…and I could be), but the 2009 2-disc sets were all the good things that any Nick Cave fan could possibly want as they each relate to each particular album.
As of now, there are four titles being re-released. Those include From Her To Eternity (1984), The Firstborn Is Dead (1985), Kicking Against The Pricks (1986), and Your Funeral…My Trial (1986). As it appears, each title is not being accompanied by the bonus second disc, but will be the album as it is. And while this might change as more info becomes available, I’m rather calm in the assumption that these four re-releasing Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds titles are just providing stand-alone albums utilizing the 2009 remasters.
I have an email scout crawling out there to find out the actual intent of these re-releases. Without question, they are definitely meant to be there for fans that are planning on seeing their 25-date US/CAN tour beginning on June 14 in Manchester, TN.
For now, you can pencil July 8 in as the issue date for these four CDs.
Yeah, the 2-disc sets from 2009 are definitely the way to go for fans. These should be attractive to folks who are just discovering the band on their current tour because the remasters do sound terrific.
