LauperShesSoUnusualDEIn 1983, a new artist by the name of Cyndi Lauper found her place in history with the release of “Girls Just Want To Have Fun”, the first single from her soon to be released album, She’s So Unusual.  That song brought a high level of fame that Ms Lauper used to springboard ever higher with subsequent releases.  but for the time being, her debut supplied a healthy supply of songs that quickly found an audience.

Even today, more than any other song Cyndi Lauper released, “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” is firmly planted in pop consciousness.  The title is often used as a phrase.  The song is often sang.  You could say that it is likely forever a part of things we say (girls mostly).

Still, She’s So Unusual delivered several more classic tunes including the controversial “She Bop”, an ode to female masturbation.  “She Bop” sold quite well along with the album’s other single, “Time After Time”.  “Time After Time” was nominated for a Grammy in 1985.

This year, on April 1, Legacy Recordings will assemble a 30th Anniversary Celebration set for She’s So Unusual with a few surprises tucked away in its 2CD offering.  Of course, the remastered audio is plenty for most folks.  However, in the 2CD set will be a collection of demos, rehearsal pieces, live cuts, a non-LP B-side, and three bonus remixes that include a 2013 Yolanda Be Cool remix of “Girls Just Want To Have Fun”, a 2013 Nervo remix of “Time After Time”, and a 2013 Bent Collective remix of “Time After Time”.

The 2CD Deluxe Edition will also feature extras like a reusable sticker set that includes vinyl cut-outs of Cyndi Lauper’s weird dresses and accessories to be attached to a 3D fold-out of the bedroom featured in the video of “Girls Just Want To Have Fun”.  The included booklet will contain new liner notes.

In addition to the 2CD reissue of She’s So Unusual, there will be a single CD featuring just the remastered album, and the bonus of the three new remixes.  There will also be a vinyl LP set, with download rights to the three new DJ remixes.
