QMSLiveOldMillTavernAfter the release of the third album by Quicksilver Messenger Service, Shady Grove, the band relentlessly toured to promote the album.  They would have anyway as touring was a way to pay the band money for their hard work.

Unfortunately, Quicksilver Messenger Service was, and still is, not a massive name in Rock and Roll history.  But to those that liked the band from an early point, there is legend all over the band.  And why not?  With high-profile names like Dino Valenti, John Cipollina, David Frieberg, Gary Duncan, Greg Elmore, the band provided a fiery, and well appreciated show.

On August 27, Purple Pyramid Records (the label that brought you the fine, fine Tommy Bolin Whirlwind collection) will issue a ‘must have’ live recording of one of Quicksilver Messenger Service‘s usually incendiary shows.  The show was recorded at The Old Mill Tavern, located at Mill Valley, CA.

The title of the new release is Live At The Old Mill Tavern – March 29, 1970.  The CD issue will be comprised of eight performance tracks including two with legendary blues harmonica player, James Cotton.  The package will be a digipak release, and will contain liner notes from Dave Thompson.
