There is a long, grown-over, and often dusty pathway to Rock and Roll that Pete Doherty has traveled. Beginning with UK’s The Libertines that paired him with Carl Barât, and eventually giving him greater voice with his Babyshambles band in a later period, Pete has spent much of that time accumulating stories as well as creating a fine body of music that pays homage to the golden era of he late ’70s. After rejoining The Libertines, Pete has resorted to solo work as his personal voice needed escape.
In 2009, Pete Doherty released his last solo effort, Grace/Wastelands. After, he rejoined with The Libertines, and released another Babyshambles album. No one in Rock brings the thought of Johnny Thunders faster to my mind then Pete Doherty with his music and exploits. I’m always happy to see a new album from this guy in whatever way he chooses to provide.
