If you’re a fan of Patti Smith, it’s hard to not recognize the talent that assisted her in her many recordings throughout the decades, Lenny Kaye. Along with Jay Dee Daugherty, Lenny Kaye has performed with Patti Smith on every album (except for Dream Of Life, on which Lenny Kaye did not appear, as Fred “Sonic” Smith handled the guitars for the album) and on every tour. It’s needless to say that Lenny Kaye provided a strength for Patti Smith with his guitar.
On July 17, Lenny Kaye will release his first ever solo set on Yep Rock Records with Goin’ Local. This debut will appear with twelve new tracks that will include one co-written and performed with Patti Smith (“Solstice”). Lenny Kaye has an available single available with the title track, which can be heard below.
Goin’ Local will be issued on CD, DD, and on a limited edition (1000 copies) Blue Bone Splash color vinyl LP press.
