XTC has a deep fanvase that appreciates the music and lyrics that have come from the band. Formed in 1972, XTC released their first album in 1978 at the epicenter of the Punk/New Wave rising period. Their album, Skylarking. released in 1986. That album contained their big hits “Grass” and “Dear God”. The album was a fan-favored one and is listed on Rolling Stone‘s 500 Best Albums list. . In 2016, Steven Wilson remixed Skylarking in stereo and 5.1 Surround formats for fans. Now, Wilson has taken Skylarking a step further by remixing the classic album into the emerging and stylish Dolby Atmos format.
On September 27, via Panegyric and Partridge‘s own Ape House, a newly remixed Skylarking will be released that features a Dolby Atmos for those that asked for it. Last year, The Big Express was reissued with this and it is likely that other XTC titles will follow. Steven Wilson has revisited the title with new mixes that will find it reissued on vinyl LP as well as CD and BD. Four Bonus tracks will be included as well as Wilson‘s last 2016 mix of the album. A refreshed booklet is included. The new mixes were from the original multi-track tapes of the album.
The BD-Audio will provide the original album and bonus tracks in 2024 Dolby Atmos, a DTS-HD MA 5.1 Surround of the 2016 SW mix, a 96kHz/24-bit mix of the 2016 SW mix, and a Corrected Polarity Edition in Stereo at 96kHz/24-bit. The new 2024 mix of Skylarking will be reissued on CD/BD, a Dolby Atmos mix package on CD/BD, DD, and a 200g-weight black vinyl press. A CD/BD/LP bundle is being offered as well.
