In 1975, an independent label (Mushroom Records) from Canada released what would soon become a best-selling debut featuring a pair of sisters to be known as Heart, That debut gave up “Crazy On You”, and “Magic Man”. From there, the sisters signed with Epic (on their Portrait imprint) and issued the best-selling Little Queen in 1977 (remember “Barracuda”?). Label issues with Mushroom eventually yielded a “sophomore” set called Magazine, also issued in 1977, but that’s another story. The band went through two phases of popularity largely due to a changing musical climate. However, the sisters were able to create a better route for themselves with several highly successful sets that fared better than their first period. But it was their debut that endeared an audience to them.
With a TBA release date, MoFi has promised an SACD Hybrid and 2LP reissue of the 1975 classic of Dreamboat Annie, the album that started it for the sisters. The remastering of the album into DSD sound will give fans a set that will transform the original mix to a new height of sound.
The 2LP set of Dreamboat Annie will be offered in a 2LP press on black 180g-weight vinyl, and cut at 45 RPM for fidelity. The remastering path is such: 1/4” / 15 IPS Dolby A analog copy to DSD256 to analog console to lathe. Follow this SACD link and this 2LP link to watch for the date of reissue as it becomes available. MoFi is known for TBA postings.
