Pete Shelley was an essential aspect of the band, Buzzcocks. Along with Howard DeVoto (who went on to form the highly underrated Magazine with John McGeoch, who himself went on to Siouxie And The Banshees, and then to Public Image, LTD). Once DeVoto left, it was Shelley who carried the band until its dissolution in 1981. Shelley reformed Buzzcocks in 1989, which existed until his death in 2018. He did enjoy a rich solo career releasing six solo sets between 1980 and 2002. Of those, XL-1 (1983), and Homosapien (1981) performed well.

On June 6, Domino Records will reissue both XL-1, and Homosapien as standalone sets. The two albums will feature booklets with new liner notes and a collection of photos. The original albums will be added to with a collection of B-Sides and dub mixes to make these something to pick up.

Homosapien, and XL-1 will be reissued on CD, DD, and Limited Edition black vinyl 2LP housed in gatefold jackets.
