During the rise of the New Wave period, just as the ’70s gave way to the gateways of the ’80s, many bands capitalized on the energies and changes that Punk exacted on the world of Rock in the late ’70s. One of those bands were Pearl Harbor & The Explosions. The band was fronted by Pearl E Gates, a woman (once married to Paul Simonon of The Clash) who brought energetic vocals to the band’s only release, their eponymous debut issued by Warner Brothers in 1979. They enjoyed success via their singular single issue, “Drivin'”. The band dismantled shortly after.
On April 25, Liberation Hall Records will revisit the album essentially reissuing the previous 2019 remastered expanded set but this time with a Limited Edition issue of an opaque Sky-Blue vinyl LP package. A booklet will expand the set further. All the bonus tracks were found on the 2019 reissue, but if you missed that, here’s a rare chance to get back in on it.
Pearl Harbor & The Explosions will be reissued on CD (in 6-panel digipak), DD (in CD quality), and pressed on Limited Edition color vinyl. You can pre-order all here.
