YES doesn’t need to be explained to anyone. Suffice it to say that they changed the landscape of accessible progressive music. By the time of Fragile and their breakout, albeit truncated hit single, “Roundabout”, they were a big, big band capable of almost anything, a feat they achieved in greater heights with their next release, Close To The Edge. Released in 1972, it expanded the landscape with YES creating a masterpiece, considered true to this day. Now, some 50 years later, it’s time to give it the love it deserves in the quality it deserves to the fans that deserve it.
On March 7, Rhino Entertainment will unleash a grand design for Close To The Edge. This 2025 Edition will contain 5CDs, a BD, and an LP of the original classic. Spread out over these discs will feature new remastering, and a handful of previously unreleased rarities. The BD will feature new album mixes by Steven Wilson bringing Close To The Edge to the newest audio format of Dolby Atmos, and a new DTS-HD MA 5.1 Surround mix for this release. The set is rounded out with a complete live set from their December 16, 1972 show at The Rainbow in London.
