After the release of Wish You Were Here in 1974, Badfinger, with Pete Ham, Tom Evans, Joey Molland, and Mike Gibbons, amidst much turmoil and financial disarray, recorded their next album, which was to be called Head First. Due to problems with accounts and managerial distrust, Warner Brothers did not release the album and so it sat in limbo for many years. In 2000, Snapper Music released a rough mix of the album after it resurfaced. But now, the multi-track masters have been located and a brand new finished 2024 mix of the album is ready for your ears.

On December 13, a 50th Anniversary celebratory issue of the album will be made available that will debut on vinyl only for the time being. The UK has a CD edition ready to go now packed with a 16-page booklet. A CD edition is being planned and will be announced at a later date for the US. For now, there will be vinyl LP and Hi-res 48 kHz/24-bit Digital Download for the US marketplace. A 12-page booklet is being packed in to the vinyl LP set.

Not long after the finished recording of this album, Pete Ham left the earth, followed a few years later by Tom Evans. This is a momentous release especially for Badfinger fans.
