Nick Drake was a class singer-songwriter who had released 3 folk-flavored albums that performed poorly on the charts during his life. Upon his tragic death by overdose in 1974, he was relegated to obscurity until artists began to mention his songs as inspiration in the ’80s. By the late ’80s, his popularity began to soar and his albums began to sell consistently, His songs were featured in film soundtracks.
On July 7, a various artists collection of his songs will release to highlight the music that he left behind, music that has taken on its own life. With artists like David Gray (who does “Place To Be“), LEG (who performs “From The Morning“), and Karine Polwart and Kris Drever (who does “Northern Sky“; hear below), the collection is sure to be a rich trove of classic Nick Drake songs beautifully imagined by others. The 25-track collection will be marketed as The Endless Coloured Ways: The Songs of Nick Drake.

Throughout the year, a set of 7″ vinyl singles has and will release with various songs from the album. Those will include five singles that began with: “Cello Song” by Fountaines D.C. as the A side, and “From The Morning” by Let’s Eat Grandma (LEG) as the B-side. Single one was released on March 24 of 2023. Single 2 was issued on April 14 of 2023 with “Saturday Sun” by Mike Lindsay and Guy Garvey. Single 3 was released on May 5 of 2023, with “Place To Be” by David Gray on Side A, and “Parasite” by Stick In the Wheel as Side B. Single 4 was issued on May 26 of 2023 with “Road” by Bombay Bicycle Club and The Staves as Side A, and “Northern Sky” by Karine Polwart & Kris Drever as Side B. The final single – Single 5 – , will be issued on June 16 with “One Of These Things First” by Emeli Sandé on Side A, and “Day Is Done” by John Grant as Side B.
