Bedlam formed in 1972 as a hard rock band (originally as Beast before changing the name to Bedlam). With members from a variety of bands (Dave Ball came from Procol Harum, Frank Aiello arrived from Truth, Cozy Powell came from Jeff Beck, and would go on to play with Black Sabbath, Rainbow, ELP [as Emerson, Lake & Powell], Whitesnake, and others, and Denny Ball from Long John Baldry), Bedlam released their debut via Chrysalis Records in 1973. Their tenure would be short-lived as Bedlam split in 1974 with only one album to show for their existence.
On June 30, Grapefruit Records (Cherry Red UK) will exhaustively and intensely explore Bedlam with a 6CD collection that will feature the Chrysalis debut with the original mix, a new 2023 remix by Denny Ball, three live sets, and disc filled with demos, singles, and tracks from various affiliations. This 6CD set will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the band’s entry and debut. The set will be known as The Bedlam Anthology.
