Tangerine Dream knows no end to their legacy. And while their musical beginnings at 1967 was vastly different than it is now, it is by NO means whatsoever a short-change. Before his departure to the Border of the Marsh from Okefenokee, founding member Edgar Froese left full rights and trust to Thorsten Quaeschning, Hoshiko Yamane, and Ulrich Schnauss to carry on the legacy of Tangerine Dream. And they have done so admirably. In fact, the recent release of Raum showcases classic Tangerine Dream in full dress. I’m sure Edgar is quite proud.
On May 27, KScope wil release La Divina Commedia (previously known as the accumulated Dante Trilogy) in a 6-Disc boxed set that will prominently feature a 60-page hardbound book surrounding the legendary three album collection (Inferno – 2002, Purgatorio – 2004, Paradiso – 2006). The three albums are reassembled here with a DVD of the 2002 live concert. The music is newly remastered for this set.
The book contais plenty of good things including extensive liner notes by Wouter Bessels, an essay by Froese’s wife, Bianca Froese-Acquaye, and lots of photos. La Divina Commedia will make a fine, fine library addition.
