Let’s complete our earlier post about the new upcoming Leonard Cohen album, Popular Problems, which is due from Columbia Records on September 23 (firm). But, before we get there, let’s indulge ourselves with a new song from the album, “Almost Like The Blues”. We deserve it, right?!
The new album will contain nine new tracks, and is being produced by Patrick Leonard. It will be Cohen’s 13th studio effort, and is being released just two days AFTER his 80th birthday. And while I wish him all the delights of life, a part of me wants to see him tour again. My last time seeing Leonard Cohen was in 2009, when TAP contributor, Robert Olsen and I caught his April 11 show at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. I’ve seen a lot of shows in my lifespan, thus far, and this one was one to remember.
Popular Problems Tracklisting:
1. Slow
2. Almost Like The Blues
3. Samson In New Orleans
4. A Street
5. Did I Ever Love You
6. My Oh My
7. Nevermind
8. Born In Chains
9. You Got Me Singing
We last encountered Cohen originals on his Old Ideas album, released in the beginning of 2012. So, there are those of us completely ready for Popular Problems. And if the above song is an indication of the nine tracks to be found on the set, then we’re in for classic Leonard Cohen.
