Over the past several years, Loveland Duren has made some of the warmest, most sophisticated and heartfelt music I’ve had the pleasure of absorbing in quite a long time. This legendary duo of powerhouse singer Vicki Loveland and guitarist/singer Van Duren have released two albums of exquisite quality and execution (in both songwriting and performance) and are about to unveil their 3rd full-length collection with this new track, “A Place Of No Place”.

These two Memphis rock and soul stalwarts feature, as always, Ms. Loveland’s  fierce lead vocals (perhaps her most emphatic ever) over Mr. Duren’s supercharged Stones-y guitars.  The subject matter is about the here-and-now:

Tell us we’re unpatriotic

We question despicable deeds

We disagree with your rhetoric

So you tell us we can leave

You’re keeping children in cages

Doubling down on your hateful speech

While we’re all chasing the rabbit

You commit your crimes with ease

Anchored by a crack rhythm section in Ian Duren (drums) and Adam Holton (bass), plus England’s newest hitmaker, Liam Grundy on piano, the track also features strong performances by Adam Hill on slide guitar, Grace Askew Shelton on backing vocals, and the Back To Memphis Horns.  Recorded at Memphis’ legendary Royal Studios, the track was engineered by Mr. Hill and Boo Mitchell, and mixed by Mr. Hill.

The new album will be released on vinyl and digital formats in early 2021.  Until then, dig into some rockin’ truth from Vicki Loveland and Van Duren.  Blast out “A Place Of No Place” on the stereo hi-fi of your choosing… LOUDLY. Turn it up!
