BOA Raunch N Roll LiveReal Gone Music seems to be doing what SHOULD be done to Wishbone Ash’s Live Dates album, and that is to provide the complete show that Raunch And Roll Live by Black Oak Arkansas was culled from. I’ll talk about Wishbone Ash a little bit later.

On June 2, watch for The Complete Raunch And Roll Live on CD. I don’t know what all of that entails but I can say that I do know that the shows used were two nights at the Paramount Theatre (Portland, Seattle), December 1 and 2 in 1972. The album was Black Oak Arkansas at their peak. The original album contained seven class BOA tracks including “Hot and Nasty”.

The Complete Raunch And Roll Live was originally released as digital content on iTunes on October 1, 2013. It provided thirteen tracks from the Portland show, and eleven tracks from the Seattle show (see track-list below).

Now, about Wishbone Ash’s Live Dates album. That 2LP set and its eleven brilliant live tracks were culled from four shows (Croydon Fairfield Halls, Reading University, Newcastle City Hall, and Portsmouth Guildhall). And we all know that the band didn’t just play eleven performance tracks in those four nights. I have put the bug in Martin Turner, and Andy Powell’s ear, and written about this in a separate article (read here). I’d like to see the original album tracks remastered, and all tracks from those four shows assembled into a complete Lives Dates presentation. And it’s right up Real Gone Music’s alley. But, if no one pursues it, in time, I plan to!

Real Gone Music…challenge is up! and thanks for bringing The Complete Raunch And Roll Live to CD!

    1. I didn’t know that. But I’m glad they’re releasing for a wider audience. This year, thus far, has sucked for releases.

  1. I would spend top $ on a complete Wishbone Ash Live Dates set. I’d love to have it on vinyl with FLAC download included. I love physical product but more and more am coming to appreciate the audiophile quality downloads when they are truly done right – and for those shows, I’d love to see that.
