For those of you who have not spotted it already, one of the big speculations in my last Overflow Notes columns has come true. The WhoTommy: Super Deluxe Edition is now up and available for pre-order at all Amazon locations online. There are options in case if you do not want to get the Super Deluxe Edition. First of all, the Super Deluxe Edition contains a new 2013 mastering of the Tommy album, a Bu-ray DVD audio of the album, a disc of demos (of which all are unreleased with the exception of 3) and a disc of The Who live at The Capital Theatre in Ottawa, Canada on 10/15/69 and a few other locations from the ’69 tour.

You also have the option of a single disc basic 2013 remaster of the album, a 2-CD Standard Deluxe Edition of the album of which the second disc contains the live material. There will also be a stand-alone Blu-ray disc release of the Tommy album. There are also multiple digital options to be hadl. All of these variations of the package will be released by Universal on November 11th. (Hoffman Forum & IMWAN-of which extensive discussion has been taking place).

Hot on the heels of the reissue (with 4 added tracks) of the Jimi Hendrix Experience box set (also known as The Purple Box) comes word from Japanese sources that Experience Hendrix/Legacy is on the verge of releasing the Jimi Hendrix ExperienceMiami Pop 1968 on CD & DVD for a targeted November 13 date. There are two grey market releases available over at Amazon U.K. that some of you might be willing tot ake a chance on. One is already out. Steely Dan – Going Mobile: Classic 1974 Radio Broadcast on the Smokin’ label is now out. The other one is The Doobie Brothers Looking To The East on the Goldfish label and taken from a January 1973 (I hope I did the math correctly) radio broadcast. It is due out on September 23.

  1. Well at least they broke up the set to be able to pick what you want or need, bluray disc looks interesting but not sure if I will buy it being that I have the sacd set

  2. Quadrophenia was a revelation so if this is the same approach, I am in on the Tommy as well. But just the two disc I think.
